Question: Now that marijuana is legal, can I just carry it around with me?
Answer: I am just a 47-year old dad who grew up in Nancy Regan’s “just say no” era. I know very little about marijuana. But, as my kids are close to turning 21 years old, I really should get educated. Here are some interesting facts from various websites.
Adults over the age of 21 can now legally possess pot. How much you are allowed depends on your location.
On your person: Up to 1 ounce in a sealed container. This sounds small, but according to many online sources, this can make an average of 84 joints!
In your home: Up to 10 ounces in a locked container and up to six plants.
In your car: There are two places in your car to keep a sealed container:
- up to 10 ounces in the trunk or a locked glove compartment;
- up to 1 ounce in the passenger area of your car.
Use In Public: Follow laws similar to cigarette or alcohol use in public. You can’t have an open container of marijuana in public and you can’t smoke in most public places.
